April 15 – May 28, 2023

Drawers 1 - 3:
King Lear, 2018, hand-made book, ink on cotton
       - A pictorial telling of Shakespeare’s tragedy, emphasizing Shakespeare’s intentional reading of the play. It was created as a protest against patriarchy.

Drawers 4 - 6:
New York Training School for Girls, 2019, hand-made book, ink on cotton
       - A joint project with Luz Muniz, about her wrongful incarceration as a teen, from 1964-1966. The hand-stitched saddle shoe on the cover is Luz’s symbol of injustice.

Drawers 7 – 8:
Nakasendo Way, 2019, hand-made book, ink on cotton
       - A collection of haikus, written while walking 65 miles on the ancient road between Kyoto and Tokyo in 2019. It celebrates the wonder of Japanese storytelling.

Drawers 9 – 10:
Voices from the Stoops, 2020, hand-made book, ink on cotton
       - A project that brings back the words of writers who once lived in Brooklyn Heights as a way to protest the 2020 proposed Brooklyn promenade tear-down.
