<\/a><\/p>\nAfter-School Programs<\/strong> are continuous\u00a0ten-week courses offered to K-5 and middle school aged youth in partnership with local schools and nonprofit organizations. These programs\u00a0offer a range of instruction based on themes related to Kentler\u2019s current exhibitions as well as\u00a0the social and academic\u00a0goals of our students and partners. Programs are held off-site at partner locations with regular trips to the gallery, where students observe, discuss and creatively respond\u00a0to the artworks on view. At the end of ten weeks, students are invited to share their portfolios at a final exhibition and awards ceremony\u00a0attended by friends, family, Kentler staff, and our partners.<\/p>\n Current and recent\u00a0partners include:<\/p>\n Extreme Kids & Crew<\/a><\/p>\n Good Shepherds Services<\/a><\/p>\n PAVE Academy Charter School<\/a><\/p>\n Red Hook Initiative<\/a><\/p>\n Special Needs Residency Programs<\/strong> are year-long partnerships\u00a0offered to ACES and contained classrooms for K-5 students with cognitive disabilities. Our Teaching Artists work closely with collaborating\u00a0special education\u00a0teachers to develop art-making activities\u00a0that support students\u2019 specialized curricula. \u00a0Activities take place in the classroom with at least on\u00a0field trip to the gallery per season.<\/p>\n Current and recent partners include:<\/p>\n P.S. 15, The Patrick F. Daly School<\/a><\/p>\n School Programs<\/strong>\u00a0(currently suspended) are 2-part, 90-minute programs serving K-5 students from Red Hook public schools. Each participating class receives one gallery visit and one follow-up visit by a Teaching Artist in the classroom. In the gallery, students interact with\u00a0and respond to the exhibitions on view. Our Teaching Artists use inquiry-based discussion and input from partner educators to\u00a0connect artwork themes to relevant curriculum topics and learning objectives. Students participate in two workshops in the gallery: one\u00a0observational drawing exercise and one exploratory, multi-media activity. At\u00a0the classroom\u00a0visit, students combine and transform their earlier drawings into finished artworks, which are installed in the school hallway for all to enjoy!<\/p>\n School Programs (when in session) are open to all local K-5 classrooms, including ACES\u00a0and ICT inclusion classes.
